Intravenous BPC-157 was well tolerated in a first pilot study
A very small pilot, in two healthy adults, found no adverse effects or changes in organ markers.
Most evidence on BPC-157 comes from animal studies, where it has been investigated in tendon, muscle and mucosal repair. This pilot sought a first safety signal in people: two healthy adults received intravenous infusions of up to 20 mg.
There were no adverse effects and no measurable changes in heart, liver, kidney, thyroid or glucose markers. With only two participants it is a first step: larger, controlled trials are needed.
In three points
- Human pilot with only two participants
- No adverse effects or marker changes
- Most efficacy evidence is still from animals
