Retatrutide, the triple agonist, showed large weight loss in phase 2
It acts on GIP, GLP-1 and glucagon receptors at once; the effect was dose-dependent at 48 weeks.
Retatrutide is the first molecule of its kind to activate three metabolic receptors: GIP, GLP-1 and glucagon. In this phase 2 trial, adults with obesity received different weekly doses or placebo for 48 weeks.
Weight reduction was substantial and dose-dependent, and the most frequent adverse events were gastrointestinal. These results led to the TRIUMPH phase 3 programme, now under way.
In three points
- Phase 2 human trial, 48 weeks
- First GIP / GLP-1 / glucagon triple agonist
- Opened the TRIUMPH phase 3 programme
