Type 2 diabetes: retatrutide cut HbA1c by up to 2.2 points in 36 weeks
In phase 2 it outperformed placebo and dulaglutide on glucose control, with weight loss of up to 16.9%.
This phase 2 trial, published in The Lancet, enrolled adults with type 2 diabetes and HbA1c between 7.0 and 10.5%. Weekly retatrutide was compared with placebo and with dulaglutide, another GLP-1 agonist.
At 36 weeks, HbA1c fell by up to 2.2% with retatrutide, versus 1.4% with dulaglutide and 0.3% with placebo. Body weight fell by up to 16.9%, in a dose-dependent way.
In three points
- Phase 2 human trial in type 2 diabetes
- HbA1c down up to 2.2% vs 1.4% with dulaglutide
- Body weight down up to 16.9% at 36 weeks
