Glycyl-L-histidyl-L-lysine, copper(II) complex
GHK-Cu 50 mg
A tripeptide of human origin that forms a stable complex with copper. Naturally present in plasma, its concentration falls markedly with age: published work describes around 200 ng/ml at twenty years and close to 80 ng/ml at sixty. That decline is why it is studied as a dermal repair signal.

- Presentation
- Amber glass vial with lyophilized powder, vacuum sealed.
- Includes 3 ml BAC waterIn the same box, at no cost.
How it works
- Acts as a physiological carrier of copper into the cell, an obligate cofactor of lysyl oxidase.
- Stimulates synthesis of type I and III collagen, elastin, decorin and glycosaminoglycans in dermal fibroblasts.
- Modulates the expression of metalloproteinases and their tissue inhibitors, favouring remodelling over net degradation.
- Shows angiogenic and antioxidant activity in wound-healing models.
Qué dice la evidencia
- Systematic review of the complex's regenerative and protective actions, with emphasis on its role in tissue repair signalling.
- Increased collagen production and dermal density in human fibroblasts versus control.
Route described in the studies
- Route
- Subcutaneous into adipose tissue, or topical in a cosmetic formulation. Concentrations for the two routes are not interchangeable.
- Preparation
- Reconstitute with BAC WATER, directing the stream against the vial wall, never straight onto the powder. Do not shake: swirl gently until fully dissolved. The solution turns an intense blue, characteristic of the copper complex.
- Application site
- Rotate the application site between abdomen, flank and thigh to reduce cumulative local irritation.
Documented effects
- Redness, stinging or transient induration at the application site, the most frequently reported
- Mild headache during the first applications
- Transient metallic taste
- Sustained copper excess can interfere with zinc status
When it is not used
- Wilson's disease or any disorder of copper metabolism
- Concomitant use of copper chelators
- Known hypersensitivity to copper compounds
Storage
- Lyophilised
- 2 to 8 °C protected from light. Stable up to 24 months unopened.
- Reconstituted
- 2 to 8 °C. Use within 30 days. Do not freeze once reconstituted.
- Shipping
- Tolerates ambient-temperature shipping for short periods in lyophilized form.
Preguntas frecuentes
Why is the solution blue?
The colour comes from the copper ion coordinated to the tripeptide. A colourless solution means the complex did not form or has degraded.
Can the topical and subcutaneous routes be combined?
Studies evaluate them separately. Adding them without control raises total copper load and is not documented.
